Sziget Festival Budapest
Episode 2 in the column of Dispatches From Budapest deals with Budapest’s largest music festival that every year puts Woodstock in its place. Well, almost.
Think of the word ’Holiday’. Now think of the word ’Party’. Finally, let the word ’Madness’ come to your mind — where am I going with this? Well, I will tell you what all three words combined mean to me. Namely, this:
Sziget Festival Budapest
That is because as a young male in my twenties, I like to spend my time off from feeding the corporate machine with mad partying somewhere where it’s not only not offending anyone, but where partying is rather encouraged. The reason I’m mentioning holidays here is that although Sziget is held during August, we are now in the month of October that is slowly turn into November just like cold and rain turn into extreme crap-freezing depressing cold and sludgy annoying snow. To make it short, you slowly need to make up your mind about next year’s holiday destination.
Of course, French Riviera sounds cool and Mallorca is always a safe pick. But do you really want those boring Sex On The Beach cocktails and the lousily air-conditioned hotel room while you’re having your delicate white torso burnt to a hot lobster-red pain-center? And then having to put up with other people who are just like you only much more annoying?
Obviously, you don’t.
And let’s face it, all you’d do is spend your time drinking, partying and then regretting your last night day after day. So why not spend your well-earned week off along with great and adorably weird people, along with amazing live music and in an atmosphere that you can’t really compare to other similar events? No, seriously, I know there are other famous and awesome festivals around the world, but the Sziget Festival simply has it’s on special vibe that anyone has to experience at some point in his life. And then as many times as possible.
In Episode 2 of the Dispatches From Budapest we will take a closer look at the annual Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Come along, sing along, the show begins.
